Todays walk in detail

Despite the promising weather forecast, we awoke to fog/heavy mist, which persisted for the first half of the walk. Clocks had 'sprung' forward an hour overnight but nevertheless, 22 of us set off from Cutthroat Bridge. We headed toward Derwent Edge and then veered off at Whinstone Lee Tor heading for Moscar Lodge. There were some fantastic views along this section, unfortunately the mist persisted and we couldn't see any of them!

We crossed the road and onto the Stanage Edge path, then we joined the lower path. Just below Crow Stones we headed directly across Bamford Moor. It was just a little bit wet underfoot, but was navigated successfully, then onto Bamford Edge amongst crowds of people (yes crowds), a good proportion of whom seemed to be foreign students. It seems to have become very popular for sightseeing.

We found a reasonably quiet spot overlooking Ladybower Reservoir. The sun was shining and the views fantastic; it was here we said our last goodbye to Professor Graham Bailey. Graham had been a long term member of both our club and Rotherham Metro and at the request of his daughter Karen, Margaret scattered some of his ashes as we said our final farewell.
