Todays walk in detail

This walk was the first of the Wickersley Walking Festival and 35 walkers including 10 non club members assembled in the Winthrop car park. We eventually set off up second lane and across Morthen Road on our way to Pinchmill. Single file was strictly adhered to along the unpaved road to Cowrakes Lane and then on a path by the houses to eventual cross the road before Worrygoose Roundabout. It was here 2 walkers left us due to tiredness to take the bus back. We had a much needed drink stop for 10 minutes and then progressed by Sitwell Golf Club to slither and slide on muddy field paths to reach the wood at the top of Wickersley Gorse. Threading our way off Sorby Way we arrived at Wickersley Church and then through the wood back to Winthrop where refreshments were taken.  Although it was a fine day there was much mud, glorious mud. Thanks to the four Marshals John, Sandra, Dave and Mike.
It was remarked on that this walk on all the publicity for the Walking Festival was classed as medium level, in error, when it should have been the hardest level.
