Todays walk in detail

Shillito woods to Millthorpe circular.

Many thanks to the 9 hardy and travel weary souls ( it was a long way out!) and one happy dog who turned out in the rather inclement weather for this 5.5 mile circular walk. We left Shillito Car Park went through Unthank, down to Millthorpe, and back to the start. We enjoyed very brief glimpses of the beautiful Holmesfield countryside, but we were mostly submerged in drizzly low cloud. An eventful walk, we encountered some excitable and very noisy cows, and a purposely blocked public footpath which did not deter us from our walk (thanks for the muscle Dave!). There were plenty of trees on the walk, some young, some old, most had branches and leaves, and there were some fine examples of drystone walling. As you can tell my local knowledge was exemplary!  There was a small amount of singing (me) but I had to nip that in the bud,  I refer you to my earlier comment about the inclement weather!!  All returned safe and sound to the car park, I removed the air ambulance off speed dial on my phone and refreshments were taken at the Angel Inn in Holmesfield. Big shout out to the fragrant Natalie for the pics and a special mention to lovely Kath for being both lovely and the back stop.
