Todays walk in detail

The cold weather was in distinct contrast to that of the previous few days as 14 of us set out from Hope to tackle the various climbs associated with this walk. The first part from Hope to Castleton was easy enough but was then followed by the haul up Cave Dale, which mercifully was dry underfoot. With Mam Tor it is more a case of trying to avoid the crowds [and dogs] attracted to this famous beauty spot. Lunch was taken just beyond Mam Tor itself and the intrepid walkers then completed their journey via Hollins Cross, Back Tor and Lose Hill before returning to Hope. It was quite cold for most of the way but as ever we were rewarded with stunning views. Welcome to Lisa and Barry who joined us on the walk and special thanks to Roy for acting as backmarker. The "Travellers Rest" provided well deserved refreshments on this chilly but enjoyable day.
