Todays walk in detail

Edale, Grindslow Knoll, Kinder Downfall, Kinder Low Jacobs Ladder, Upperbooth, Edale

Considering the terrible weather forecast it was pleasing to see 13 members turn up in Edale car park. The weather was true to forecast because it was raining as we gathered for the brief before our walk. We set off up the long and steep one and quarter hour climb up Grindsbrook Clough. Unfortunately one of our members did not make the whole way up the climb. On the other hand one member - Natalie - who had to be cajoled and pushed and dissuaded from giving up last year, led the whole way up to the top this year. What a difference a years' walking has made to her fitness! Also congratulations to Andrew who used this walk to test his fitness after considerable  weight loss. He breezed it! The rest of us trudged on along the ridge through constant driving rain and very poor visibility. When we came to the point to turn off the ridge and yomp across Kinder Moor to Kinder Downfall the conditions made the decision not to cross the Moor the safer option. We continued along the ridge paths and then down to the valley via the very steep and treacherously wet  Jacob's Ladder. Both our break and lunch were taken sat in the rain. We arrived back in Edale with the route cut short from 9.7 to 8.1 miles by not going over Kinder Moor. Considering that all the survivors were very very sodden we were all in good spirits. Drying out occurred in The Ramblers Inn.
