Todays walk in detail

03/07/2025

Ravenfield Common via the wood, Braithwell Road and then down to Ravenfield ponds.

We had to re-route Tracey's walk owing to the partial closure of footpaths in Thrybergh Country Park. 20 walkers + 2 dogs set off from St James Church on yet another fine summer's day heading for Ravenfield up a gentle slope towards the wood. From there we walked along Braithwell Road crossing the field that sometimes includes rescued horses courtesy of the Thornberry charity; none to be seen on this particular day. We took our break at the top of the hill before continuing down the lane towards Ravenfield Ponds and completed this part of the walk in a clockwise direction. This particular area always has such a calming influence with the quiet waters, the water lilies and the wildlife. Then it was back up the short hill, across the field and past the church to our starting point. The "Grazing Harts" provided welcome refreshments after our short walk of 5 miles. Thank you all for coming on the walk and welcome to Andrew who joined us for the first time. Many thanks Donna for acting a backmarker.
