Todays walk in detail

Twenty of us set off from the car park suitably dressed for the wet weather. We walked towards Manvers Lake which was quite active with paddle boarders and wild water swimmers. The resident ducks looked on thinking to themselves "They must be quakers!!!" 😂 ( sorry, couldn't resist). We picked up three more ramblers along the way, plus one straggler, swelling our numbers to twenty-four. Not a bad turn out considering the weather!  We marched passed the golf course onto the Trans Pennine Trail negotiating large muddy puddles as we went. We turned off onto a narrow path keeping in single file as we traversed towards Broomhill. The silver birch trees lit up the way ahead. On arriving at the village of Broomhill, we had a welcome break in the park playground. The rain became heavier but did not dampen our spirits and some of the group enjoyed a spin on the roundabout! Break over and replenished, we set off to tackle crossing the extremely busy road! Phew, safely across we made our way back onto the TPT and back to our starting point. Cold and damp a few of us retreated to the warmth of the Blue Bell pub for refreshments and chat. Thank you all for your lovely company and making the walk very enjoyable.
