Todays walk in detail

Once again the club have assisted Winthrop Gardens at Wickersley with their walking festival.  We had 34 walkers including a warm welcome to 9 new faces.  The walk was six miles long starting and finishing at Winthrop.  The first section started along sandy flat lane before heading across the fields towards the extreme sports section of the walk, crossing Morthern Road.  We then walked along York road into Morthern village and then crossed the fields inbetween the m18 slip roads and the m1, which doesn't sound inspiring but it is great countryside with extensive views across Sheffield.  Break was taken at Brampton en le Morthern playground, where some members reverted to their childhood!  The walk resumed by skirting Thurcroft and then walking through its centre. After clearing the exotic bits of the village ( industrial estate ) we then headed back across the fields to Winthrop. Many thanks to Dave for back marking.  We are lucky to have such a happy group of walkers and many thanks to all who attended.
