30 walkers set off from Winthrop gardens. The sky was grey and winds were light but it was mild. After walking through the woods we crossed the main road and headed off towards Whiston. At the lane leading down to Sitwell golf club we took a rehydration break. It was the downhill all the way to Whiston. After walking through the housing estate we crossed back over the main road and onto Pinchmill lane. We took a banana break just before Pinchmill stables. Then it was onwards and upwards back to Winthrop. We then took tea, coffee and snack break in the cafe. PS no mud Wonderful.

On a beautiful and warm day [temperature reached 26 degrees] 27 members and 3 dogs set out from Ravenfield for the 5 mile figure of 8 walk. After having crossed the main road we made our way to Thrybergh Country Park and navigated this in a clockwise direction. The reservoir looked resplendent in the sunshine and we were rewarded with the sight of plenty of wildlife including a swan carefully guarding its nest with new-born cygnets.

On a lovely sunny morning, 24 of us set out initially along the Clowne Greenway which is part of the old Beighton railway branch line but is now a well surfaced track for walkers and cyclists between Staveley and Cresswell. After less than 1k, we left the track for a short section of road walking before picking up a bridleway to Elmton and then towards Oxcroft and along Damsbrook Lane to our break. We enjoyed good views to the west overlooking the small village of Shuttleworth.

Twenty three walkers and one dog met outside the cemetery at the top of Flash Lane Bramley. We walked down the lane passing Slacks Pond to meet our first muddy path up the field. We went over the Motorway to cross Cumwell Lane into another very wet and muddy field. We walked over Thurcroft old pit site (more mud!) to have a break by some rocks. We then walked down a horse field to Carr. Over more muddy fields to Hellaby and back to the car park by following a path through trees adjacent to the M18. Refreshments were taken at The Sir Jack public house.

On a beautiful, clear sunny morning 19 of us plus 2 dogs set off on our circular walk around Manvers Lake. Underfoot was good only a few muddy spots and ice puddles here and there which Benny had great fun skating in. 

The most wonderful time of the year according to the song. The last Thursday walk of 2024 was blessed with a sunny bracing day. Twenty four walkers and Jake the dog set off from Firbeck onto Salt Lane. Unfortunately the night before hadn't been quite so wonderful cos it had chucked it down and we had a walk through about 100 yds of boot covering puddles. Perhaps we need a Christmas song about rain and puddles. We then crested the hill towards Langold before turning off towards the pretty village of Letwell. Coffee was taken at the church with a few chocolate biscuits.

Twenty two walkers turned up on a very grey, damp day. I will have to describe where we headed because you couldn't actually see much of it. We set off from the Langold lake playground carpark on a mud free walk, three-quarters of the way around we headed off through the wood and towards Honeyhills. We then went across Millars Land towards the allegedly (cos we couldn't actually see much of it) scenic village of Letwell where we had a coffee break at the duckpond.  We then headed along Ivy lodge lane before heading across SaltHill Lane.

It was fantastic that the walk yesterday was supported by 39 members on a December day when for the duration of the walk dry conditions were enjoyed. We were lucky because later in the day the heavens opened. Setting off from the "Woodman" our journey took us alongside the Woodlaithes estate with the remains of Silverwood colliery beneath our feet. We then walked through Ravenfield wood and down to Old Ravenfield where we took a coffee break next to St. James church. Having crossed the field we took the narrow road and then the footpath up to Braithwell road.

Many thanks to you all for attending today's walk which started from Whiston. There was a total of 23 walkers and 2 exceptionally well-behaved dogs. Welcome to Donna, Chris and Dawn who joined us for the first time and thanks to John for backmarking. The weather was very kind to us and the rain held off until later in the afternoon. This was as well as conditions were still a bit tricky and muddy underfoot in places. There was that one awkward bit to navigate across the remnants of a stream but we did that without any great difficulty.

Thanks to the 24 walkers and a lovely baby, who had a nice sunny walk for the Wickersley walking festival, the weather was dry, the mud still isn't !  The walk was from Winthrop gardens Wickersley and took us across the fields to Morthern and then on to Brampton en le Morthern where we had a snack and coffee break.  The walk then continued across some almost ankle deep mud accompanied by lots of laughter and across fields to the bottom of Thurcroft.  After we 'paraded' through the village in our mud spattered trousers we headed towards Newhall Grange before turning o
